Howdy!

Well, it's been WAY too long without an update. Over the past couple of months I have kept meaning to get Aaron to take the photos again.. and I kept putting if off.

But today, after a great day with family - I decided it was time!

So as you can see from the photos and info above the numbers are still going down. And this is a good thing! In the past 21 1/2 weeks I have lost a total of 68 lbs! My BMI has gone from 42.4 to 30.8. And inches have dissappeared all over! This photo is of the paper behind me in all of these photos. If you look at the difference between the outter line and the current one - you can see exactly where all the inches have been lost. Pretty Cool - huh?

The 'diet' is going pretty good. I actually don't feel like I'm dieting anymore. I'm still craving the fruits and veggies and have to remember to make myself eat meat and protiens daily. My latest favorite craving is watermelon. I did finally figure out why I was craving pickles. My older sister is pregnant and NOT craving pickles.. so we decided that my longing for pickles was actually 'sympathy' cravings. Sister was quite glad that I took over that chore for her. The pickle craving has actually decreased the past couple of weeks.

I have recently descovered that most of the 'banned' foods fall into one of two categories - Can't have (cause it will make me sick) and Shouldn't have (won't make me sick - but will cause set-backs). Anything with more that 15g of sugar fall into the can't have column. I still haven't had a full blown dumping episode (thank goodness) but had a very mild reation to something I ate one night a couple of months back. I started feeling jittery but wiped, stomach was cramping and I just didn't want to move. Aaron was on shift that night, but stayed on the phone with me keeping me thinking and talking about other stuff for about an hour until it subsided.

On the shouldn't list are all the other stuff that the nutrionist has told me I should avoid - mainly complex carbohydrates. I have eaten some soups that have a few kernnels of corn in it and it's been ok. I've snacked on some triskets and tortilla chips and haven't had a reaction. I have added toasted whole grain bread on occassion when I want to eat something that just can't be eaten without some kind of platform.

I have also found that there are several dessert options out there that aren't very high in calories and under the 15g sugar limit. My current favorite are the Skinny Bunny Fudgesicles. Only about 50 calories and 12g of sugar. They are awesome for when I just really need that little piece of normalicy. I've also recently found some Minute Maid soft limeaide and cherry limeaides. So cool and refreshing in the heat!

My biggest worry (well not worry - but thing on my mind) has been our upcoming wedding! My wonderful future MIL has been doing all the running around up north for us. She was trying to find a baker that would make us a sugar-free (splenda?) wedding cake. Well - no such beast exist. But I conducted a little experiment a couple of weeks back. I went to a cousins wedding and brought Aaron home a piece of her wedding cake. Since I was safe at home I decided to give a small bite a try. I ate 2 small bites of the cake and had no reaction.

OK so this goes against everything I have worked for since December - but damnit - I want to have a bite of my wedding cake on my wedding day!!! So since I didn't have a reation with a small bite, we have decided to forgo looking for a special cake, and just have the one I want and I'll just eat the piece he feeds me.. and then have my watermelon! >:o) Problem solved!

I had Aaron take a couple of extra photos tonight. This first one is of me in the jeans I was wearing at the time of the surgery. They are a size 26, and needless to say - I didn't have to even unbutton them to slip them on! lol

This next photo is the outfit I wore today to my sisters baby shower. About 3 weeks ago, I finally had to break down and go shopping for some clothes. I know that shopping for new clothes because the sizes are dropping should be a sweet thing. But it stings a bit, espically when getting pants since I buy them and know that they won't fit in a month!

At least with shirts (well, the casual t-shirts I wear) I can wear them for several months and they still fit good. The only reason I haven't had to buy pants until this last shopping trip was because of my many many weight fluctuation over the past decades. So I had jeans ranging from the 26w's to 22w's.

The capris in the photo below are size 18 and fit great when I bought them 3 weeks ago ... and they are actually pretty loose already. I know... should be a good thing... But it's getting costly! lol The T-Shirt is an actual regular part of the store XL shirt. Not a 1x, but a regular person size shirt from the regular person part of the store. I can't remember the last time I could buy from that part of the store >:o)
